Having taken this class has really changed the way I look at the materials around me. When I thought of 3D design, I always imagined it strictly from an architectural perspective, or rather simply the act of making something three-dimensional. I never realized the depth of knowledge required of patterns, textures, scale, lighting, shadows, elements/organizations, all these 2D elements that ultimately constitute and determine the composition and success of a 3D piece. I’m extremely grateful for having taken this class because it has allowed me to look and take in my environment from a completely new and unique lens. Rather than just seeing objects, I see the textures and patterns in all the things around me, and automatically try to imagine them in a composition or art piece. The other thing about this class is that it really taught me to appreciate the simplicity of the tools and materials around me. I know using supplies like tinfoil, parchment, and plaster were more or less substitutes for the strange online format. But I really did not consider them to be effective mediums until this class.
Lastly, one my favorite parts of this class was doing the sketches and drawings based off the book Einstein’s Dreams. It was such an insightful, compelling read, and such a unique drawing assignment that really pushed me to draw directly from my mind, and not just what is around me.

It was my extreme delight to have you as one of my students in Art 004. You brought so much to the table. your work is insightful, precise without being tight and a general attitude that attempts to get as much as possible from every opportunity.
I have no doubt that you will be successful in any of the many avenues you could pursue in the future. I am happy to know that this studio had such a strong impact on your creative consciousness.
Have a good holiday and a much better new year!
All my best
