Identity Project

For my identity project, my inspiration was the hand as a universal symbol in yoga and in the use of meditation. I decided to focus on the concept of breathing as a daily reminder. I am a very nervous person, so practicing meditation and reminding myself to breathe everyday is very important to me. When I think about breathing, I think about peace and a calming state of mind– which is why I decided to add a low, dark red color. It is a color that personally brings me joy and relaxation.

I decided to draw my hand, as the lotus hand symbol– which to me is very important because it represents connectedness with oneself by just the touch of your fingertips. In the middle of my palm, I drew the Sanskrit symbol, which serves as a reminder to breathe. These two symbols combine represent my everyday practices; these practices combined remind me to take good things into consider throughout my everyday life. The lotus plant and the Sanskrit symbols are both representative of me and my mind; they serve as a reminder throughout the day to keep me alive and keep me grounded.
