I would say that this course has definitely given me a greater appreciation for art overall and the process it takes to create a final piece. Right from the beginning, reading Genesis of Form provided me with a greater understanding of how art has evolved over time, talking about how basic lines became symbols and shapes to becoming more abstract pieces. Before this class I never enjoyed looking at other artists’ pieces because when I looked at them my interest was never piqued. However, all the exercises and projects we did, starting from the fingerprint project where we focused on the simple lines that made up our prints all the way to the the plaster project, I now have an appreciation for all the work and details that come with creating a piece of art and recognize that although something may look simple, if you take a closer look it can be much more complex. I will continue to take this appreciation and build on it not only in my future art classes but simply when looking at my surroundings in the world.
